ALWAYS A REMNANT
Friday, November 11, 2011
MEMORIZE: "Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him." (1 Kings 19:18)

READ: 1 Kings 19:13-18

The letter the Lord wrote to the church in Sardis in Revelation 3:16 was a very sad one. Unlike the previous letters, there was barely anything good to say about them, except that there were a few who did not defile themselves. One lesson here is that the Lord Jesus is the most objective person you can think of. He calls a spade a spade, not an axe. If there is nothing good about you, He will say it with love to provoke you to do something about it. Church leaders, unlike Jesus have become so subjective. When an incident occurs, many ministers will do all they can to avoid calling it exactly what it is.

This could be due to fear, favouritism, or tribal sentiments. One virtue that should distinguish you as a man or woman of God is your commitment to truth. If you cannot tell the truth at all times, irrespective of who is affected, you are a disgrace to the Christian Community. Do you take sides when judging a matter? How impartial is your judgment? Remember, Jesus says it is the way you judge, you will be judged yourself. If you denied someone justice, expect that you will be denied justice where it matters most. Be like Jesus -The Truth. This passage also reminds us that no matter how polluted a people are, there is always a faithful remnant.

They may be one, two or just a few; yet, there are those who will always strive to meet the Master's standards. This is why you must not allow anyone to deceive you. If people generally tell you that holiness is impossible, leave them alone. Look for the remnant few who believe God's Word completely. In Sardis, there was a remnant few. At a time the Israeli captives taken to Babylon compromised their faith and joined with the rest of Babylon to bow down to the golden image of Nebuchadnezzar, the remnant three stood for the God of Israel (Dan. 3).

At a time the nation of Israel backslid and began to worship idols during the days of Jezebel, there was a faithful remnant - Elijah and the 7000. In your generation, there is a remnant of God-fearing, heaven-bound saints. You have a choice to either be part of those who shall be saved, or the crowd that will be damned. Make your choice today!

PRAYER POINT: Father, let me be a part of Your faithful remnant.

Don't make a permanent decision over a temporary matter.

DOES YOUR FAITH PLEASE GOD?
Saturday, November 5, 2011
MEMORIZE: "By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days" (Heb. 11:30)

READ: Mark 11:22-23

If you want to be a winner, you must know this foundational truth that with God you cannot possibly lose, and without Him, you cannot possibly win. In Exodus 14:21-28, all Moses did was lift up his hands. That was his input. God did the rest. The Lord parted the Red sea. Winning in life depends largely on your relationship with God. There are three foundational truths you must know as a winner.

First, recognizing that their success depends on God, winners do everything in their power to please God. How? Hebrews 11:6 says it takes faith to please God. Winners are men and women of faith. They demonstrate faith in all they do. Habakkuk 2:4 says, "Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith". Your faith in God is your most prized possession.

It is so important to God that, He said the just shall live by faith four times. It is also why a whole chapter of the Bible was devoted to winners who did exploits through faith (Heb. 11). According to 2 Corinthians 5:7, the one who would please God must not limit his or her decisions to only what can be seen. We do not walk by sight. Is your level of faith pleasing to God? "By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days" (Heb. 11:30).

If only you can have faith and put it to work, there is no wall that can stop you. The type of faith you manifest is what determines how your blessing will reach you. Your level of faith makes it easy or difficult for your blessing to come.

ACTION POINT: Examine your faith and make conscious effort to develop it.

Don't make a permanent decision over a temporary matter.
What you are going through is temporary, Storm doesn't last forever.

FORTIFIED BY MERCY
Wednesday, October 19, 2011
MEMORIZE: "Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy." (James 5:11).

READ: Hebrews 10:38-39

After Bartimaeus heard that Jesus was passing his way, he cried out product of God's mercy. According to James 4:3, not everyone for mercy. One vital lesson here is that answer to prayers is only a who asks from God receives a favorable answer. Whenever you ask, God, being sovereign, decides whether to grant the request or not. Contrary to what people think, Matthew 6:7-8 says answers are not based on how much you pray or even how well.

After all, Romans 8:26-27 says we need the help of the Holy Spirit in order to pray effectively and effectually, since we do not know how to pray as we should. Every time God gives you an answer of joy, know that you have just benefited from His mercy. Besides, all our requests can be summed up by asking for God's mercy, especially when you consider your unfaithfulness, short comings and times of disobedience. You will know that you do not qualify for any answer except by His mercy.

Moreover, when Bartimaeus shouted to Jesus, and the crowd asked him to keep quiet, he instead doubled his effort to get the Lord's attention (Mark 10:48). From this, we learn that it takes God's mercy for one to not yield to opposing forces, especially at the threshold of your breakthrough. As it is commonly experienced, it is always darkest before dawn; hence, you will need assistance to hold on at this crucial moment. Most people who failed, did so at the verge of their breakthrough. If only they realized how close they were to their destination, they would not have given up.

You are in a race to Heaven. You may have started several years, or months, or even weeks, ago; one thing is clear, though: you are nearer your goal than when you started. Why would you backslide now, or return to the ungodly ways you left behind several years ago? Shun every voice that asks you to give up! You are heavenly-breed and Heaven-bound; according to today's reading, you are not the type that gives up.

Is your situation getting tougher and you feel like giving up? Don't! You are very close to your breakthrough. Some of you started the process that has brought you to this point 10, 20, 30 or more years ago. Truncating it means taking you several years back. You can make it! Hold on fast: you will get there!

ACTION POINT: Going back to your vomit means undoing all that Heaven has done in your life over the years. This makes you a loser. Pray: Father, Help me not to look back.
